Yokai, specters, are familiar to many Japanese. We hear stories from elders when we were little, and the animation ”Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro", in which Kitaro, a human like specter, would fight with the "evil" with the help of his friends who are also specters. In this animation, Kitaro and his friends are not the enemy of humans. I was looking forward to this anime program (once a week), when I was little. Historically, Yokai has been more than scary creature for human beings (certainly not "enemy"), but also teachs us things like paying respect to food, nature and others. There are so many kinds of Yokai, that even a database exists.
